CORRUPTION AND FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION

Yes, we know we are corrupt, we the Indians.  It’s not that the political class or the police man or the sarkari babus are the only ones who are corrupt but we in our daily life do so many things knowingly or most often than not habitually which are pretty much a part of corruption.  The question then arises as to why are we trying to fight it.  In one way or other it is benefiting everyone.  The policeman who takes Rs.100 from you remembers your face and vehicle for at least a few times of traffic rule lapses and lets you move freely just for this small amount.  In return he gets to save his salary for better expenses like the ever increasing school fees of his children and as he is also a common man when it comes to providing education as he is just a common police man and not a wealthy politician or any other influential govt. officer.  He again has to be a part of that subdued social clan called COMMON MAN and has to pay a good amount of his rightful earnings to the school which are the most important part of the factory which produces the next generation of the honest, silent, stick to your routine stereotype citizens of India.  So that Rs. 100 he took from you is actually being used in development of the biggest asset of our country.  Then why do we mind so much giving him that note? After all we all want India to develop at a faster rate.

The fight against corruption looks like a dying effort just like the revolt of 1857 which threatened the British Empire by its force but the force only lasted for a few days as it was more of an emotional outburst without any proper planning.  This movement against corruption needs to sustain its momentum if it were to have a long lasting effect in Indian History.  We need to identify what we want to fight for i.e. is it just the lokpal bill or is it about bringing in the commitment towards building a neat and clean society in all those persons who have at least some part to play in nation building.  We need to scrap the Crab Mentality inside us and do the right things just the way we were taught in our Moral Science Class and I believe that can and will solve this problem at least to a reasonable degree.

But not to forget this is just a common netizen's view and hence no so important.
